Discography
I had an unusual day today, taking stock of all the tracks that I've made over the last eighteen months or so. It took most of the day, bouncing out things that hadn't been bounced before, until I had about fifty gleaning tracks. The plan is to ruthlessly cut into them to determine what's hot and what's not, taking a clear volition to steer onto the right direction.
About half are more-or-less finished and ready to press the record-button on a vocal track, the other half anywhere between a ropey MIDI file and something that needs re-working. Yet despite the reassurance of having a body of material, enough to make an album, I feel a little despondent that things didn't work out before and I don't have the discrography on CD. Sigh.
I haven't, in truth, picked up the pace in my search for a collaboration, having turned-down all my prior candidates (or vice versa). The prospect of putting another classifed ad seems dubious. I read today that some twelve-year old got a million hits on YouTube playing piano... I am rather young looking myself; maybe I should play something and pretend I'm eleven, and maybe that way Lady Gaga will offer to join the band.
Perhaps a more likely approach is to get a new set of demos together, take a deep breath and try again. I already have heard hundreds if not thousands of demos, right from Bournmouth mobile-phone rapper to Jesus (yes really), without luck. Of those, we've run with about a dozen for live demos, but nothing stuck.
What am I looking for? This batch of songs has drum+bass, lovely melodic piano ballads, disonant dark electro-rock... maybe I'll just be honest and say I don't know what I'm looking for; until I find it.
